Bedding Size & Fit: Measure Before You Order
A few measurements and a careful read of each listing can help you choose bedding that fits. Here's what to check before you order.
1. Measure your actual mattress
Bed-size names like Queen or King are a starting point, not a fit guarantee. Measure the mattress itself: width across the top, length from head to foot, and full depth from the bottom edge to the highest point on top.
If you use a topper, protector or pad, measure depth with it in place — that combined height is what a fitted sheet has to wrap around. Write all three numbers down before you shop.
2. Pocket depth is not mattress size
A fitted sheet's pocket depth is how tall a mattress its corners can wrap. Compare your measured full depth against the pocket depth stated for the exact size you select, not against another listing or another size.

3. Sheet set, comforter set or duvet cover?
A sheet set usually covers what you sleep on — typically a fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcases. A comforter set centers on a filled comforter that goes on top. A duvet cover is a removable shell for a separate insert.
Sets vary, so read the included pieces for the exact size you choose. Check whether pillowcases or decorative covers are included and their dimensions, and whether pillow inserts, sheets or a duvet insert are included — don't assume matching pieces come with the set.
4. Estimate comforter overhang
For a rough idea of how far a comforter hangs over each side, subtract your mattress width from the comforter width and divide by two.
Illustrative example only: a 90-inch-wide cover on a 60-inch-wide mattress gives (90 − 60) ÷ 2 = 15 inches per side. These numbers are not the dimensions of any product we sell. The estimate ignores loft, mattress depth, your bed frame and the length at the foot, so treat it as a guide rather than a promise.
5. Match care and space
Read the care instructions for the specific item and color you choose, and check that your washer and dryer can handle it — a bulky comforter may need a larger machine than a sheet set.
For bedside storage, measure the spot beside your bed and read how the listing says the organizer attaches, then check that your mattress or cushion holds it securely.
